Slow Cooker Peach Cobbler

Make slow cooker peach cobbler with just 3 ingredients! Dessert is ready in a few hours with no work at all.

Make an easy slow cooker peach cobbler with just three ingredients - canned peaches, butter and cake mix! Layer all the ingredients in the Crock Pot and cook for a few hours to make a delicious dump cake like dessert.

I love fruit cobblers especially in the summer. But I don’t love turning on my oven to bake them.  A friend sent me this crazy recipe that I didn’t believe would work.

I’m calling this recipe a cobbler, but it may be more of a dump cake. There definitely is a lot of cake here so if you want more fruit, I think you could easily add another can or two or peaches.

The recipe calls for exactly three ingredients – canned peaches, a cake mix and butter.  It’s easy to keep these on hand for a last minute dessert.

Dump the peaches on the bottom of a slow cooker. I used a 4 quart slow cooker.

Get the canned peaches in heavy syrup. I used one of those and one in just peach juices and it was fine.  But if you are buying peaches specifically for this recipe, then the syrup helps to make the sauce.

Then spread a cake mix on top of the peaches. I used a white cake mix because that’s what was in my pantry.  A yellow cake or butter pecan would be good, too. Part of me wants to try a Funfetti cake mix because – FUN!

Cut up a stick of butter and toss those pieces on top of the cake mix. DO NOT STIR! Resist the urge! Cover and cook.

I started checking the cobbler after 2 hours on high. I let the cobbler cook for 3 hours.  Insert a toothpick in the cake in the center of the slow cooker to test for doneness. The edges will get done first so don’t rely on that area.

I waited for the top to get browned more toward the center to call it done.

I still can’t believe this recipe worked! It was so easy, too.  And most of the time I already have the ingredients in my pantry. The cobbler would be good with apples, cherry or any pie filling.

Serve with homemade whipped cream or homemade vanilla ice cream.
